Dear Orange County Auto Glass,
Every time I go to an auto body or an auto glass shop, they are always using big words that I do not understand. They claim they are explaining what I am being charged for, but I do not understand them because they are always using industry terms. In the end, I just hope that the right stuff was fixed and that they did not take me for a ride. How am I supposed to trust and of these supposed professional technicians if I have no idea what they are talking about? I do not live in the area so I am unable to come to your establishment, but my friend has only given me rave reviews about your work. I was wondering if there was any way you could explain to me how to understand what these technicians are really talking about? Is there any way they can explain it to me in plainer terms? I really appreciate any help or advice you can give me.
Dear Confused Customer,
We completely understand what you are saying. After being around certain things and talking a certain way for so long, we do not even realize we are doing this. We understand that many of these words make no sense to you and probably just confuse you more than you may already be. We would give you some definitions of some common words, but there are just too many and it always depends on who you are talking to. Some people say one thing, but another technician may explain it using a different words. Because of this, we are not going to write out a long list of terms for you. There is something you can do though. Ask some questions!
If you are going to a certified auto glass or auto body shop, they should be able to explain anything to you in plain terms. If they are unable to do this, then you should probably stop taking your car there. They may not even know what they are saying. Almost any technician should be happy to take a few extra minutes to explain something to you so that you understand what they are doing. They will almost always be willing to do this because they want you to become a regular customer when you have any other problems with your vehicle.
Another thing you could do is just look a few things up on the internet. You could probably do a simple search of basic terms you have heard many times. This way you can see a definition before you even go back in for something. Or, you can always go home afterwards and look them up. If you feel that they are taking you for a ride or are unable to give you a proper explanation then you should think about looking for a new auto body or auto glass shop.
